CYWU Union and Venezuela solidarity Campaign National Conference Wales

Andy Goodall, VSC Co-ordinator addressed a packed CYWU national conference on Saturday 20th May 2006 about Venezuela and the urgent need to build solidarity. Standing orders were suspended to allow VSC to inform delegates of the current situation in Venezuela and some of the recent history.

In presenting the executive commitee with special CYWU edition copies of the DVD The Revolution Will Not Be Televised and full details of the solidarity tours organised by VSC we were warmy welcomed.

VSC covered the coup, history of poverty, lack of real democracy before the election of President Chavez. In addtion, many of the successes in eliminating illiteracy, establising a new health service in exchange for oil. Promoting workers co-operatives and constant victories in multiple democratic elections over the last 6 years.

A great deal of interest was shown in the packed stall and posters, DVDs and T-shirts were distributed briskly.

More information on the ongoing situation in Venezuela was requested and VSC will endeavour to supply this for activists and members.
